Friday at work I could hardly contain my excitement. Nealson kept texting me every hour, "only 2 more hours, only one more hour, only 1/2 an hour...." We both were so excited to make it to the doctors appointment! Luckily for me, the morning flew by. Before I knew it it was time to go and pick up Neal to head over there.
Before leaving the office my boss gave me some instructions. He's good at that. "Okay, so if it's a boy- bring back hot dogs. If it's a girl- bring back....." I suggested cupcakes. He wasn't going for it. I could tell he was hoping for a boy because as I walked out he put in his order for one hot dog from costco with all the helpings, including deli mustard, not regular.
His wish came true because after our appointment I was able to proudly walk in with lunch for the office. HOT DOGS IT IS! WE'RE HAVING A BOY!!!! :)
We got to the doctor's office and went straight into the ultrasound room. My heart was beating so hard. I had no preference whatsoever, I just wanted the baby to be okay and healthy. I get so scared that they're going to find something every time we go in. We sat down near the monitor and the technician placed the camera on my belly. Our sweet little miracle was staring right at us! It was almost as if he was waiting for us to see him that day! Even though I was looking at him on the big flat screen, I felt such a strong connection to him at the moment. And it was literally a moment....
The kid started going crazy! He was kicking his arms, legs, doing somersaults, and would not hold still. I could definitely tell this was my child, he just wouldn't hold still! I couldn't believe that he is inside of me right now. I couldn't feel a thing and yet, he was a rambunctious little thing.
After several minutes he finally calmed down and did the spread eagle. The first thing out of Neal's mouth was, "Is that a woo-woo?" hahaha A woo-woo was right! She took a still-shot of him as soon as we could tell that we were having a little boy!

I was overwhelmed with joy finally knowing who heavenly father had sent to us. A boy is perfect!!! Thoughts were running through my head about the name, what color eyes he would have, what color hair, would he look more like me or like Neal? And then- we were able to get this amazing profile shot...

The next time we go in is on my birthday! April 22nd, we have the "Big Ultrasound" scheduled. The title alone freaks me out. This is when the technician and doctor take a look at all of the babies organs to make sure everything is developing correctly and their aren't any problems. My doctor assured me that they can usually detect any major complications during the ultrasound that we just had so I should worry :) I can't wait to see my baby boy again! I'm so glad that they give us a lot of pictures to take home, they hold me over until the next appointment :)
We left the office with gratitude in hearts that we are being blessed with a sweet little boy. We can't stop talking about him! So far, the front runner for the name is Liam. It's the irish version of William, and William is a name generations of the Brophy men were given :) We both think it's perfect! Now all we need to do is decide on the middle...
Wish us luck on agreeing to that one haha
SO EXCITED for you guys!!! Erin, don't worry about being nervous about something going wrong. I kept saying to myself, once the baby is out, I won't have to worry anymore. . . that's a lie. I finally understand what my mom was always talking about. Once you are a mother, you will never stop worrying about your offspring! :) We are so happy for you guy and this crazy up/down wonderfully frustrating tiring but totally exhilarating experience known as parenthood. Congrats! Love you guys!
