Camping with Friends

                With summer coming to an end we wanted to fulfill a couple more items off our summer bucket list, camping was included. Like… real camping. In the woods. In a tent.

                We planned an overnighter with our closest friends and met up American Fork Canyon.  We stayed at Timpanooke Campgrounds (in which we later found out is bear infested). The weather was a bit sketchy getting up there. We were worried about rain. As soon as we got there the guys set out to set up the tents while the girls tried to build a shelter for our campfire and food. We put our old cheerleading skills to good use and stunted Kallee to reach the branches to tie up the tarp. Who needs Eagle Scouts when you have cheerleaders?

                The kids played while we all cooked our dinners. We each did our own tin foil dinners, they are my favorite!!! Ours turned out amazing, thank you pinterest, and we all shared our treats for dessert. Let’s just say we didn’t go hungry that night.

                Liam loved exploring with his girlfriends. Yes- all my friends have little girls so Liam gets the runaround every time we hang out. He loves it though. The kids explored (in the parents view) while we hung out around the fire. That night Kelsey did a fun craft with the kids. I love being able to have a group of friends that are all starting their families! It’s been a blast having kids close to Liam’s age for him to play with and we love getting together with all the couples.

                We brought up our 12 man tent… yes we have one thanks to Delta Rewards… and shared the tent with Mal, Pete, and Hadlee. Liam cuddled up in between us and Lenny slept at our feet. I don’t think I slept at all that night. With Liam kicking me, Neal snoring, Leonard taking up most of the bed, and bears growling outside I didn’t get much Liam. Liam was up at the crack of dawn… literally… which meant so was I. He was ready as ever to go and explore some more. He loved being outdoors! For breakfast we had yummy muffins, bagels, fruit, and bacon over the fire. It was soooo good. We all packed up, took a couple pictures, and called it a day. Camping for me is a one night once a year kinda thing. It’s fun, but by the next morning I’m ready to head home and take a nice long shower.
