When we first moved to Salt Lake we tried finding people to watch Liam from friends and family. It worked out where my friends could take him Monday and Friday's and then my mom was watching him Tuesday-Thursday. It worked... for a week haha After that I knew that I needed to find something more permanent. Every time I dropped him off I would catch my self apologizing and then thanking them SO much for watching my little boy. I felt guilty leaving him there and felt like I was just intruding on everyone's personal lives by asking them to watch Liam.
Now- I am so grateful for the time they spent with Liam. I knew he was in good hands. I just didn't feel good about pawning him off to friends and family every day. I was sick of the instability of not knowing where he was going next with schedule changes and things coming up. I wanted to find something that fit my schedule at work where I wouldn't have to worry about rushing to pick him so I don't make someone else late.
I started out my searching by just looking for something close to my work in Murray. I found a cute place called Tilley Time and I was very impressed with what I read about them. State licensed for over 20 years, pin code and fingerprint scanner access into the daycare, and over 200 students! It's a daycare and preschool. I was impressed with the reviews so set up an appointment to check it out.
The first meeting went great but was really hard. I walked in to the baby room and saw all these little kids without their moms. I know that's dramatic but that's exactly what I thought. I saw the daycare workers playing with all of the kids and couldn't help but feel jealousy. I wanted to be with my son all day, do they know how lucky they are to be taking care of all these sweet little kids?
Once I met the workers I realized most had been there 5,10, 15 and one even 20 years! They love what they do and really love their kids. All are CPR certified and trained in first aid. All are state licensed. And all are full-time PAID employees so I know that they understand this is their job and they have to take care of these kids. Plus- there's cameras in every room just in case :)
So for now (and I have to keep reminding myself that this isn't forever) I take Liam to daycare on my way to work and pick him up right after. It's 5 minutes away from the office so I know he's close in case anything ever were to happen. I love his teachers in the baby room, there's a 4:1 ratio of kids to teachers. He's learning so much by being around all the other children! He hasn't cried ONCE when I leave him because he's excited to see all of his friends. Every time I pick him up he's playing with one of the teachers or the other children and doesn't even notice me come in. It's not until I say, " LI LI!!!!!" that his cute face lights up and I get to witnessed the biggest smile in the world. I love him so much.
So until I can be the stay at home mom that I want to, Tilley Time it is! And it's the best that I can do :)
