Happy
4 year anniversary to us! Our anniversary fell on a Thursday this year and the
day before Liam’s birthday (no surprise there). Sharing an anniversary weekend
and a birthday weekend with our son means we will just have to postpone our big
celebration until after Liam’s birthday festivities. With that said, we didn’t
want to pass up going out on our actual anniversary.
Liam
headed over to his favorite cousin’s house (Miss Brynn and Huddy Buddy) so we
could have a night out. Baby #2 picked where we went for dinner because I just
had to have breadsticks and a combination pizza. It was fun going to pizza
factory up in Bountiful. When we were first married we would go to pizza
factory in St. George every single Saturday. We made a routine out of it and
went for an early dinner together. It was fun looking back on those times.
After
dinner we headed up to the Bountiful temple for a session. We hadn’t been
together for such a long time! It’s embarrassing how long it’s been. We’ve gone
separately so we didn’t have to get a baby sitter but it had been over a year
since we’ve together as a couple. Needless to say, we were VERY excited to get
to go. Plus- the church came out with a new movie for the endowment. It had
been over 20 years since they made the last one so it was long overdue. We were
anxious to see it.
The
temple session was so good. There’s a tangible difference in the way I feel
from the moment I walk in to the temple to the time I leave. I did the
endowment for a family member. Her name is Rose on my Dad’s side. It was his
great great great grandparent’s daughters? I think? I’d have to go back and
look. As we were getting ready to start the session I felt this overwhelming
feeling of her being there. I felt the spirit so strong and couldn’t help but
cry thinking about how long she had waited for this special day. I’m so
grateful to get this type of connection with my family members on the other
side. It just motivates me that much more to continue doing their work for
them.
We
spent some time in the celestial room praying for our marriage, our children,
and our families. The temple is such a blessing to have. We left there feeling
peaceful and empowered. On the way home we talked about us. Not Liam or the new
baby, just us. It was nice to have some time to focus on just us as a couple,
where we are at in our marriage, the things that we’re grateful for, and the
moments we’re looking forward to. We have seen how Heavenly Father is involved
in our life over the past couple months. We know he’s always been there, but it’s
hasn’t been this apparent since we were preparing to get married. We feel so
blessed with what we’ve been given and the family we are able to create.
I
feel so blessed to have Neal as a husband. I seriously couldn’t ask for more.
He is everything to me. I just think about how lucky I am to be married to
someone who tells me that he loves me every day, makes me feel beautiful, and
expresses how much he appreciates me. He’s the best and makes me feel so loved.
I can only hope to be as good as reciprocating that to me so he knows every day
just how much I love him and how grateful I am for him.
Our anniversary was perfect. We got to spend
it with each other and at the temple. Our marriage began there and our marriage
will continue to be built upon the teachings of the gospel that are found in
the temple.
