I grew up watching my Dad read military books over and over and over again. Not the same book, but definitely the same genre. I'll be the first to admit that I'm a pre-teen in a woman's body and I love reading young adult novels. Yes- it all started with Twilight and my fandom grew from there. From Hunger Games to the Maze Runner... I'm slightly obsessed. The one year anniversary of the death of Osama Bin Laden (and the 11 year anniversary to the 9/11 attacks) came this year and with it the release of a new book. I decided to buy it for Neal (who also loves military lit) as a surprise. Well, as soon as I picked it up from the mailbox I started reading it and couldn't put it done. This book was a first hand account from a Navy Seal that worked on the mission that led to the killing of Bin Laden. It was nothing short of amazing of what these men went through that night to make this world a safer place. Most of the Seals had been in the force for over ten years, joining shortly after the 9/11 attacks. I was in awe of the sacrifices they made in order to carry out that mission. So grateful for those in the armed forces, both men and woman, that are fighting to keep us and our freedoms safe.
