Tuesday morning I woke up around 6 am with minor contractions and an uncontrollable bladder. I couldn’t believe how many times I had gone to the bathroom! I finally convinced myself that I was finished and tried returning to bed to get another hour of sleep in before Neal got up for school. Just as I laid my head on the pillow I began to pee my pants! I couldn’t believe that my bladder was so bad that I was actually wetting the bed! I ran (or waddled) to the bathroom and didn’t quite make it. All of the sudden the fluid was running down my leg and I knew that my water had broke! I was so excited!!! I yelled for Neal to get up and take a look to make sure I wasn’t just imagining this. He thought I was crying wolf again and remained in bed. “No, Neal, seriously, I’m leaking… it’s running down my legs!” Yep- that got him out of bed haha
We both jumped around in excitement that the time had finally come. We were going to meet our son today! I hurried and got ready as Neal ran around the house frantically trying to gather everything (camera, chargers, phone, bags, etc.) I knew that the hospital wouldn’t let me eat once I got there so I decided to stuff my face with as many calories as possible. So- banana’s and donuts it was!
Apparently, I didn’t think I got enough breakfast at the house (or at least convinced myself that I didn’t) so Neal and I decided to stop by McDonalds for a nutritious smoothie and some hash-browns. Laboring through the drive through was something I’ll never forget haha I’m still embarrassed that we did that but it was more than worth it. I had to have a last meal!
Almost arriving at the hospital, we drove right past the St. George temple. I don’t think it ever looked as beautiful as it did that morning. The sun was just rising, it was picture perfect. So perfect, in fact, that Neal suggested that we should stop and take a picture. I about punched him in the face! I’m blaming it on the painful contraction I was having at that moment but I had to apologize to him later for being so rude about saying no and yelling, “GET ME TO LABOR AND DELIVERY!” haha
We got to the hospital and walked straight to the nursing station. They asked what they could help me with. I thought it was obvious since I was grabbing myself in hopes of trying to cover up what looked like I had pee’d my pants. As soon as they saw the look on my face (fear/excitement) they directed me right to my room and admitted me into the hospital.
I got in bed, hooked up to everything, and was able to listen to Liam’s heartbeat. I kept thinking to myself, “I’m going to be a mom today”
Eeeee!!! I'm so excited to read this story. I'm loving it so far.
ReplyDeleteLOVE that excitement! My water never breaks though so I get to just time contractions and eventually guess when to go in.
ReplyDeleteGood for you on stuffing yourself with ANYTHING you wanted!
