Christmas Eve was spent at my parents house. We watched a lot of "A Christmas Story", made sugar cookies, ate too much caramel popcorn, and enjoyed being together as a family. My little brother was in California and he was definitely missed .... but.... we still managed to have fun without him :)
After slaving over the kitchen stove all day, we managed to make it to the Cathedral of Madeliene for their annual Christmas Choral Concert. The cathedral is gorgeous but it made me even more grateful for our Lord's temples here on earth. Nonetheless, we thoroughly enjoyed the performance and being there with our family. My favorite memory of that day would have to be hearing our nephew Cy scream " I WANT TO SEE BABY JESUS, WHERE IS BABY JESUS!?!" haha Luckily, baby Jesus came out in some gold attire so Cy was a happy boy :)

When we got home, Neal hung the stockings by the chimney (staircase) with care. Please note that they are hanging by ties... yep- that would be my old man's fabulous idea.

Cy snuck into "Santa's Workshop" and stumbled upon Buzz and Woody. He wouldn't stop crying until Santa's elves agreed to give him the presents a little early. Spoiled.

Aysia (my neice) and I were on cupcake duty! I did the baking and frosting while she did the decorating. They turned out amazing and we're now considering trying out for the show "Cupcake Wars". Bring it on!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!! Christmas eve we were all able to open our christmas jammies :)
Neal and I scored by getting the Family Guy PJ set and Footy pajamas. Oscar wasn't left out either- we let him use some of Leonards hand me downs.

A party is not complete without the very mature game of shake face. We dominated.
Santa Came!!!
Neal surprised me with a picture of Christ for our living room. I've been wanting one for the longest time but we could never find one that we loved. As soon as I opened this my eyes welled with tears, it was perfect! My family kept asking me to turn it around but I couldn't take my eyes off it! I was so overwhelmed and happy that Neal found this most perfect gift for Christmas. As soon as I turned it around, the entire mood in the room changed. It brought the true meaning of Christmas back into our home. We weren't focused on presents, we were focused on Him. My 2 year nephew said, "It's JESUS!".
He was exactly right. I am so grateful for Him, our savior. I am grateful for his birth, which led to his death, which brought about the atonement. I love this picture so much because it shows Christ at the temple doors. He is wearing the red robe and sash that he will wear when he returns again. This picture reminds me that he will always be waiting for us to come to him. He will always be there to welcome us, I am eternally grateful for his unyielding love and mercy.
I hope you all had a very merry christmas :)
