SURPRISE!

That following Friday was our first official appointment with Dr. Chalmers. We were so excited the entire day, it was hard to stay at work while waiting to go in to our appointment! We went in at 12 30. We were taken straight into the ultra sound room to see our sweet little miracle. I laid down on the table with Neal by my side and I seriously could not believe this was happening. I felt like we were just "playing pretends" or we were in a movie. It was very surreal.

The ultrasound popped up and we could hear the strong heartbeat right away! I was so happy and so relieved. My emotions were running everywhere and I was ABOUT to start crying until the ultrasound tech said ... "Hm, did they say your were 9 weeks?" Yep. "Well, it looks more like 6 weeks 5 days based on the baby's measurements."

WHAT!?! I was livid. And then when I realized how mad I was, I just got mad at myself for being mad during my first ultrasound. This was supposed to be a sweet moment but when that technician told me I was 3 weeks behind what I thought I was I couldn't help but be disappointed. That changed my due date from August 15th to September 17th. Not Cool.

Looking back on it now- I just laugh at myself for being so mad. Now that I'm finally at nine weeks if feels like I'm moving forward in this pregnancy. As dumb as it sounds, I've felt like I've been catching up haha

So after the ultrasound, we printed the picture, and went in to meet Dr. Chalmers. He really is wonderful! After he introduced himself, he took the first fifteen minutes to simply get to know us. He makes us both feel so comfortable and we know we made the right choice by choosing him as our doctor.

I talked to him about my concerns for miscarriage. The fact that I was only 6W5D really scared me. I was always under the impression that the baby isn't safe until after 9 or 10 weeks. He said that based on my stats and the babies strong heartbeat, we were now at a less than 1% of miscarrying. I was so relieved! He said it was safe to tell our families so we left the appointment and drove straight up to salt lake to break the news! :)

That day was Mark's birthday (Nealson's Dad). They had NO idea we were coming up to celebrate with them and break the news! We knocked on the front door and hid behind the porch pillars. When Mark opened the door we jumped out and screamed, "SURPRISE!!!!" We about gave him a heart attack! haha

We said that we had a special delivery and let him open his birthday presents. We made a Gift Certificate that said, "GOOD FOR ONE GRANDCHILD, EXPIRES SEPTEMBER 17, REDEEMABLE FROM ERIN BURK"

They were both in shock and so excited! This will be their second grandbaby, Miss Bryn won't have to be a lone ranger anymore!
We celebrated with the famous Mrs. Backers cake and spent the rest of the night just hanging out. I am so grateful for them and how supportive they are of us and the decisions we make as a family :) We love them both so much!

Saturday morning we woke up and drove out to my sisters house to break the news first. We had to make sure the timing was just right when we got to my parents. They both weren't home at that time so we decided to tell my sister and her family while we waited.

My sister Amy and Mark were both so excited when they saw our blue and pink balloons. They had a feeling that we were coming over to tell them I'm pregnant when they heard we were randomly in town haha They were so generous and offered to give us my nephews crib, dresser, and changing table! SCORE! We couldn't believe they were willing to let us have it, they're now done having kids and they spoiled the crap out of their last one haha So we scored big time and got pregnant right when they were about to get rid of it. Perfect!

Once I knew my parents were both home (I had Amy call and check), Neal and I headed over to their house. I rang the doorbell and waited on the porch with a bouquet of blue and pink balloons, a 24 pack of gingerale (morning sickness), the same gift certificate, and the ultrasound!!!

Here is the video! My Dad would kill me if he found out I posted this but I don't care. I think it's so special and I want to include it on these posts :) I'm so glad we captured this moment video!

We talked for the next couple of hours and the rest of my family came over to celebrate and have a big dinner. It was so nice to see how excited they all were about the news. It made it that much more real for us.

I texted my girlfriends later that evening and they all showed up that night to surprise me!!! We had a blast catching up! I miss them all so much. I wish we took some pictures but I forgot :( Mal brought over her cute little girl Hadlee! She is adorable! It was fun to see my mom get to excited over having Hadlee there. I can't wait to see her with our baby this year! It will be perfect timing.... we have the baby is September and then I get my 3 months Maternity leave over the holidays! :)
