Company Party...Take 2?

The day after my work party in St. George, my company flew my entire team up to Salt Lake to take part in the Company Holiday Party. Usually they rent out a ballroom at Grand America and go all out but this year our department decided to donate our party budget money to charity and have a low key lunch for our own party.

After some meetings in the morning, we were able to decorate a "holiday" tree for our office. Apparently a Christmas tree is no longer politically correct in the corporate world. I don't care though, we're still going to call it our christmas tree and hang our baby Jesus ornament on it. We like to "stick it to the man".
We had a guest speaker..... SANTA! He surprised us right before lunch. He asked us to sing Jingle Bells for his departure. Classic.
During our lunch, the company booked dueling piano's for our entertainment. It turned out to be the greatest idea for a company party. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. The guys on the dueling piano's were hilarious and so talented, I could have watched them for a couple more hours.

The most memorable moments were when they pianists asked the IT guys to come up and dance to the song "I'm bringin sexy back". How can you not laugh just reading that.

We got to watch all of our directors do the YMCA. It's amazing that they can have a job title as a director but cannot spell out 4 letters with their arms. Their struggles were my entertainment. So funny!!!

One of the directors for my department is a HUGE Neil Diamond Fan. He's actually a legend at University of Phoenix because he once made it on the radio by singing a Neal Diamond song to win tickets to a concert. Someone decided to pay the dueling piano guys to play his all time favorite Neil Diamond and ask him to grab a make. That was the best decision that person had ever made. Mr. B (for privacy and job security) jumped right up off his chair at the sound of his name with the Neil Diamond tune blaring in the background. His wildest dream had finally come true.... he was going to be able to sing Neil Diamond in front of a large crowd.

Mr. B did not disappoint! I have never seen someone get so into a kareoke song, he was killing it! He knew all the words, actions, facial expressions, and the perfect place to throw in a "yyeeeessss". His eyes were twinkling and he looked like he was on the verge of tears. All of us in the audience were dying laughing at how much fun he was having. He had us all rolling! It was one of the funniest things I have ever seen and I can't wait to watch the videos from that day. It was the cherry on top to a perfect company christmas party :)

  1. I'm so bummed I couldn't find you to chat afterwards! This was such an awesome party. I was dying when "Mr. B" was singing. And the YMCA was fantastic. I have to admit my favorite, though, was when Darris was dancing to Baby Got Back. In no other company do I think such professionals would loosen up and be so fun! It was a blast. We definitely work for the best company ever :) We need to get together with you two! Call us when you're up for Christmas, OK?!
