Day 5

Thursday morning we landed in Puerta Vallarta! My Dad and step-mom were married here so it was fun to be able to go back and see the city. Our friends who have been on the same cruise told us not to miss out on the zip lining experience. We found the cheapest priced tour group and went for it! I am so glad that we decided to go because this was by far my favorite part of the trip!

I can't take credit for this picture but this is one of the views from the ziplines that we went on!

We took a 30 minute drive through the mexican jungle and made it to the top of the canyon. We were briefed on safety, dressed in helmets, and covered in cords before we got to the first zipline. There were a total of 12 ranging from 300 ft- to 1/2 a mile long. We were between 300-500 ft above ground on each line. Neither of us had any idea how extreme it was until we went out on our first line. I was in shock with the views we were able to see, it was amazing! We got up to 30 mph on a couple of the lines, it was crazy!

On the last line the tour guides asked for a couple volunteers. I wasn't up for any crazy tricks but apparently my husband was. I looked up and there was Neal with his legs wrapped around our tour guide! I hear him yell, "Adios! Arribe!" and poof..... the tow of them took off down the line. The next thing I know Neal is hanging upside down, flying through the mexican jungle, with our tour guide holding his ankles spread eagle! I about died from laughing so hard. It's a good think we didn't get any pictures of it because I think my dad would have dissowned him. Not kidding.

The other guide asked for the next volunteer... I had to do it. If Neal did it... I had to! So I jumped up, assumed the position, and let go. We flew down the line, the guide pushed me over, and I was upside down! It was the craziest adrenaline rush! Probably not the smartest thing to do but it was worth it. I made it back safe, into the arms of my crazy Nealson, and we couldn't stop talking about the experience the rest of the day.
I wish more than anything we could have gotten the pictures and video from the trip but they were charging $80 for all of it! There was no way we were going to pay that much so we decided to forego the expensive footage and just keep the memories logged.

After the zip lining we rode mules up the mountain to enjoy our lunch. We were able to finally relax after all that hiking and soak in the views. We enjoyed chips & salsa, authentic mexican nachos, and virgin daquiris.... classy, right? The people in our group looked at me like I was crazy when I order a virgin. The first thing out of their mouths...."Are you pregnant?" No, ma'am... just a mormon :)

On the ride back down the canyon we got to see two men enjoying an afternoon bath and beer together in the local waterfall. Quite the site to see!

We got back and enjoyed another AMAZING meal. My favorite part was the desserts. Our waiter learned fast that we are huge fans of vanilla ice cream. Neal and I made sure to not take the elevators on the ship to balance our 'caloric intake' haha On our honeymoon- we made the mistake of attending all buffets and dessert bars... we faced the consequences when we got home. This time- was much better :)
