Labor Day Weekend

Friday afternoon we loaded up the car and headed up to the Brophy Cabin. Leonard and Oscar were lucky enough to make it into the car before we left. They had quite the weekend ahead of them :)

Leonard likes to sit right behind his mom and stare out the passenger window the entire 5 and a half hours up to the cabin.

Mr. Oscy prefers to sit on Dads lap to avoid sharing the back seat with Lenny.

After two "potty breaks" we finally made it up to the cabin late Friday night. The cabin is located about a 45 minutes past Heber right behind strawberry reservoir. We actually have the Strawberry River go right through our property up there, it's beautiful!

Friday night we got to spend some time with just my parents before the rest of the Clan made their way up. Leonard and Oscary were SO excited to see Grandma and Grampa again. Leonard was not allowed into the presence of my father until after he passed obedience school. My dad was so proud to hear that Leonard passed with flying colors so he was welcomed with open arms for the Cabin Trip 2010.

Our weekend consisted of four wheelers, golf carts, lounging, fishing, fires, movies, reading, relaxing, and chasing Leonard up stream.

Leonard was obsessed with the river! You can tell because he convinced his Dad to put on these goofy fishing waders to play with him in the water. We couldn't keep Lenny out of the river the entire weekend. Any spare minute he had he'd run, jump in, and go swimming. He loved it!

Here is Mr. Lennikins himself... looking like a champ swimming upstream!

Brophy Cabin..... outside logs stained by yours truly- Erin B. :) My dad begs to differ but I'm pretty sure I spent a good two hours out there with everyone using my paintbrush and bucket of stain working on the right side of that cabin. I have proof too- It's in the scrapbook!!!

Neal disapeared downstream for a couple of hours to go fish and peace and came back with ..... absolutely nothing- except for a photo op with his sweet wife.

We absolutely LOVED being able to get away from everything and spend some time with eachother and our family.

Funny story- (Neal forgive me for posting this).... Neal decided it would be fun to throw a stick off the ledge on the riverside and make Leonard jump in to fetch it. Leonard being the smart dog that he is, saw the 6 foot drop and decided to take a detour and go down a different way into the river. Neal had a different idea.

Picture this.... Neal throws a stick upstream, Leonard goes around a different way to get in the water and starts swimming towards it, I'm sitting peacefully in my camping chair watching them, my mom is down by the rivers edge. As Neal watches Leonard go get the stick, he steps a little to close to the end of the ledge and all of the sudden the edge breaks off from underneat him and he falls straight into the river.

I watched the entire thing in slow motion, the dirt floor beneath Neal totally collapses beneath him and he's falling to his death into the river, and I just SIT THERE! Yep, I didn't move an inch. The next thing I hear is a splash and my mom yelling at me, "GRAB THE CAMERA!!!!"

Neal is now in the river, soaking wet, and covered in mud from his fall. I manage to get in a "are you okay!?!" before busting up laughing because of how funny it was to see the look of death on his face falling into the river. At that point, Neal was not a happy camper :/ As always though, he was a good sport and let me take a couple pictures before he changed.

Neal learned a big lesson that day. You'd think it would be to not stand close to a dirt ledge but no. He learned that if he's going to stand close to a dirt ledge he better have someone other than his wife and mother-in-law standing close by....

Leonard was so tired after his long day of swimming that he decided to catch some rays and soak up the sun.

When he awoke, him and Oscy decided it would be a great idea if I took them four-wheeling. I can never say no to those puppy dog eyes so I let them hop on and we were off!

Leonard hated that Oscar got shotgun so I took him on a sympathy ride and let him sit in front.

Here's Neal, my uncle Lance, my sister Stacey, and Ryan (Stacey's friend/boyfriend/ex fiance/who cares he's a part of our family no matter what) sitting underneath the gazebo.

For some reason, Leonard absolutely loved the golf cart. He was given numerous rides around the property and he'd just sit right upfront and look out the back. He loved it! Any time he heard the golf cart start he run and jump in with the driver.

Neal and I had such a fun time with my eachother, my family, and the dogs. We wish we lived closer so we could take more weekend trips up to the cabin. We definitely took advantage of the 3 day weekend and packed in as much fun and relaxing as we could :)

We got home around 3 yesterday. I drop Neal and the dogs off at home and left them so I could squeeze in some labor day shopping. Much to my surprise, I was still able to find some great deals before the weekend was over. I was even able to find a couple formal dresses and bathing suits for our cruise coming up!!! We are so excited and can't believe our anniversary is next weekend and then we leave in 3 weeks for our vacation :)
